The Italian Cultural Institute in Lebanon and the Metropolis Association, in partnership with the Venice Biennale, are proud to present the third edition of 'Venezia Cinema Beirut'.
This event, which will be held at cinema Metropolis Empire Sofil from the 5th to the 9th of May 2016, will present 4 recent Italian films and 1 classic Italian film screened at the 72nd edition of the Venice Film Festival.
The opening will be held on Thursday 5 May with Non Essere Cattivo (Don't be bad) directed by Claudio Caligari. The film was selected as the Italian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2016 Academy Awards. It won two Pasinetti Awards for Best Film and Best Actor at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. Acclaimed Italian actress Valeria Golino won a Volpi Cup for Best Actress for her performance in Per Amor Vostro directed by Giuseppe M. Gaudino. Sangue del mio sangue (Blood of my blood) marks the return of Italian master Marco Bellochio; the film won a FIPRESCI Prize also at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. In Italian Gangsters, Renato De Maria takes us on a original, spectacular journey through the most sensational exploits of the local underworld. The restored version of Alberto Lattuada's 1953 classic film La lupa (She Wolf), which premiered at the Venice Classics section, will also be screened during Venezia Cinema Beirut.
All films are in Italian with English subtitles and screenings are scheduled daily at 8pm. Tickets are on sale at Metropolis Empire Sofil - Achrafieh.
