A 65-year-old woman was bitten by a shark while kayaking in Hawaii on Tuesday morning.
Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources spokesman Dan Dennison said Kimberly Bishop, of California, reported that a 5-foot black tip reef shark bit her around 8.30am.
But he says the type of shark and size have not been confirmed. Experts believe Bishop was actually bitten by a tiger shark.
'[There is] no record of this species biting anyone in Hawaii,' Dennison said.
Bishop had been kayaking with her husband who was on a paddleboard when the attack occurred.
She said she doesn't remember what happened before being bitten.
But her husband says he heard her yelling 'shark, shark!' and saw a fin near her in the water, according to Hawaii News Now.
'The water was really clear and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary and then all of a sudden something hit me from behind and immediately dumped me over and bit my leg,' Bishop told the news outlet.
She said the shark quickly let go and disappeared.
Her husband said that he 'can't imagine it was anything but a tiger shark'.
