We came across a controversial topic where we figured some people will be pleased with and some will not. The Ministry of Tourism addressed many subjects regarding the customer/establishments relationships. They are enforcing the law that was set on 21/9/1970 and obliging all hospitality industries to following these rules:
1)The price list should be certified and prominently displayed at the entrance of the establishment in order for the customers to see and read them.
2)Integrate all the percentages in the base price including the service charge and the VAT.
3)The customers do not oblige to any request or service unless requested by them.
4)It is strictly forbidden for tourist institutions to impose on their customers and visitors minimum charge whether it was on a person or a table. They may charge an entry fee or alter the prices for ONLY through an exceptional application with clear reasoning for these special fees as well as the events entire program and then submitting it to the Ministry of Tourism one week prior to it happening. Once it is approved, they can proceed.
5)Minors are not to be allowed in nightclubs or served alcoholic beverages at restaurants.
Looking back at the above regulations, we have to admit that, yes, they are great. They do play a role in benefiting the customers; however, one point in particular might cause a little controversy between Lebanese people.
Minimum Charge. What about it? Well, at first, they might think it is awesome to ban implementing a cover charge in restaurants, pubs, night clubs or anywhere else. On one hand, you no longer have to worry about over paying for something that isn't worth it or leaving a place simply because you are obliged by a specific formula that didn't suit your liking. On another hand, a minimum charge does ease the hassle for you and the establishment. It would help in confusion, crowd control and disagreements or inconvenience.
This is the kind of topic that would delight you in one way but bother you in another.
What do you think? Comment below your opinion on this, we'd love to read it!!
