Semaine de l'Orgue au Liban (SOL), Lebanese Pipe Organ Week
For the first time in Lebanon, the Lebanese Pipe Organ week (Semaine de l'Orgue au Liban, SOL) will take place from January 31 till February 7, 2016, under the patronage of the minister of culture his excellency M. Raymond Oreigy. This Festival is organised by the Notre Dame University School of music, in partenrship with Terra Sancta Organ Festival, the Insitut Culturel Italien au Liban, the Institut Français au Liban, the Marc-Henri Mainguy Foundation, and the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music. The concerts of the first season are: 1. Sunday January 31: SIMONE VEBBER. Notre Dame de Louaize convent, Zouk Mosbeh - 8:00 PM. 2. Tuesday February 2: DANIEL MATRONE. Couvent Saint Elie - Sanctuaire de l’Enfant Jésus de Prague, Maaysrah - 8:00 PM. 3. Thursday February 4: JEAN-PAUL LÉCOT.Notre-Dame de la Médaille Miraculeuse basilica, Achrafiyeh - 8:00 PM. 4. Saturday February 6: NAJI HAKIM. Collège Sacré-Cœur (Frères) church, Gemmayzeh - 8:00 PM. 5. Sunday February 7: NAJI HAKIM with musicians from the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra (OLEG BALANUTA, oboe; OCTAVIAN GHOERGHIU, clarinet; MIHAITA RAILEANU, horn; MARIO RAHI, violin). National Evangelical Church, Beirut, Riad Al-Solh - 8:00 PM. This season is highlighted by the participation of the Lebanese Oganist - Composer Naji Hakim, who has been organist of the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, Paris from 1985 until 1993, before succeeding Olivier Messiaen at l'église de la Trinité, Paris. The organs played during this festival are renovated by the italian organ maker Saverio Anselmi Tamburini.
