Stabat Mater G. Rossini
This year marks the 150th anniversary of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini’s death, and for this occasion Baalbeck International Festival welcomed Italian composer Stabat Mater to perform the finale of Verdi’s Requiem Libera composed for the former. The concert was produced in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy in Lebanon and showcased 4 world-class soloists, Joyce El Khoury (soprano), Daniela Barcellona (mezzo), Paolo Fanale (tenor) and Krzysztof Bączyk (bass). Father Toufic Maatouk conducted the Bucharest Radio Chamber Orchestra as well as the Antonine University and NDU Choirs for an unforgettable evening inside the Temple of Bacchus.
