TINDERSTICKS / April 2nd - 9PM
LIVE at MUSICHALL
A synonym of majesty and elegance, Tindersticks is a mythical presence in the alternative rock scene of the last twenty years, and is performing in Lebanon for the first time.
Donning his customary three-piece suit and traditional mustache, accompanied by five gifted musicians (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and organ), singer Stuart Staples soars like a shaman from the first moments of the concert. His deep and vibrant vocals rapidly turn the high mass into a session of collective hypnosis, led by a plaintive soul cry, a melancholy voice reminiscent in turn of Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.
In the Tindersticks project, all elements converge towards the band's crooner: the guitarist and the bassist stroke their strings with the delicacy of touch of fervent devotees... Time stops; the gaze of the audience is drawn like a moth to a flame by the dark, captivating tone of Stuart Staples.
In its latest album, The Something Rain, the legendary British group shows remarkable strength and unique inspiration. Not content with its blues and soul focus, the record veers at times into trip-hop and jazz territories. It is an exceptional 50-minute epic, of the kind one is unable to forget. Utter and absolute class.
