    Candy Crushoholics

    03 june 2014

Candy Crush; is it a crush, or it simply drives you nuts?  King, a social games company, and the largest game developer on Facebook, started Candy Crush in April 2012, stealing Farm Ville's thunder. They call it the most popular game on Facebook; I call it a weapon of mass destruction! J It's quite confusing sometimes, more like watching a Turkish series, no end and no beginning. To be more accurate, it has become a new language, irrespective of age, gender, or nationality. There are key words, the red jelly bean, the orange lozenge, the yellow lemon drop..!!

Candy Crush is contagious! On a personal level, it now runs in my entire familyL. They even discuss it; "too much chocolate in this level," "too few moves in that," "I only need a donut!" It has become part of our everyday lives. It creates a mixture of emotions, I mean it is joyful to play at times but stressful at others; you hear one angrily say; "DAMN, I only needed one more move to end that level." Honestly this is too much trouble one can handle in a day!!!

On a more serious note, let us name some of the advantages this game holds. Despite the lack of conversation you now have within a family, I mean I kind of miss my mom at times, players have each other's backs. So if mom for instance couldn't finish a level, my sister steps in with all her expertise to finalize it for her. Talk about family union! They even share some secrets like keep the app open, move the phone hour forward and get more lives! Smarttt! Candy crush also creates a competitive edge; it gives an opportunity for people to discover their hidden talents; "never give up, aim higher, if she can reach this level, then I definitely can!"

To be honest, one thing I love the most about this game is that people took a break from politics discussions. I do not deny the success this game has accomplished; it is one of the most downloaded apps in the world, it even led King to trade in the stock market. I also do not deny the entertainment it provides, but I only ask to step it down a notch. You can play from home, at work, and the craziest is while driving! "Don't text and drive?" how about "Don't play and drive!" I only ask that people restrict the duration of playing to a time limit, take a break at times! Let us go for a drink instead! It is fun, but too much of it is time wasting.

Finally, a word to all my Facebook friends, I swear I don't want to play Candy Crush, can you please stop sending invitations!!
