"Selfie wl shabeb khalfi" "Selfie wl man2al khalfi" Selfie wl jabal khalfi" It's a never ending story. It's kind of a confusing statement to me; I mean if you're taking a selfie, everything will logically be behind you :S
Well I am sure you all know what a selfie is, but just in case, it is a self-portrait photograph, so the photographer is the photographee (though it's not even a word) Selfies are usually directly uploaded on social networks #instacool##Instafun##insta insanity# :P
Believe it or not, selfies date back to around 2002 in Australia. Before facebook was highly used a social network, they used to be shared on MySpace. "By the end of 2012, Time magazine considered selfie one of the "top 10 buzzwords" of that year." In 2013, this word became the word of the year by Oxford dictionary giving it an Australian origin. It also became included in the dictionary if you look it up : - )
Facebook study suggests that posting excessive pictures of yourself signals lack of social support. The selfie trend is also knows as "the male gaze gone viral" so don't just think it is a female crazy phenomenon. It relates to sexuality as to how a person prefers to view himself.
Famous selfies to mention are the following:
- Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Spacey, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong'o, Jared Leto and Jennifer Lawrence, and the host Ellen DeGeneres in the 86th Acadamy awards held on March 2nd 2014. This selfie retweeted 2.8 million times in 24 hours.
- President Obama took a selfie during Nelson Mandela's memorial celebration but has received intense criticism.
It has even become attractive to hoaxes. Rumors said it has officially been announced as a disorder by the American Psychiatric Association. The news was similar to "The Rock" death news. Non of it was true...
Finally, everything is interesting as long as it is not abused. Even the song, it shows how silly one can be; no meaningful words, as if it is a corrupted mentality. Don't relate it to sexual appeals. Celebrities take selfies, successful people, all people, everyone enjoys taking a selfie from time to time. Just don't keep the cam on hold to shoot at all times, and when you have a good background, don't hesitate; FIRST, TAKE A SELFIE...
