IT professionals and technology fans had the exclusive opportunity to discover the best methods to get up-to-speed with the latest Microsoft technology at Microsoft TechDays 9, an inspiring yearly event aimed at presenting and illustrating Microsoft's latest application development and design technology tools for developers.

 

The day-long event took place at the West Hall of the American University of Beirut and featured discussion sessions and workshops on app building for Windows, Windows Phone and Microsoft Azure, highlighting the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

 

"The future of technology lies in the hands of developers and the talent we see in Lebanon is exceptional and very promising", said Ghassan Chahine, Development Platform Strategy Lead at Microsoft Lebanon. "TechDays aims to inform, train and inspire local developers in every market, which will drive the next level of applications", added Chahine.

 

In a bid to help budding app developers understand ways to succeed in an increasingly complex landscape when developing apps, the sessions focused on getting the following key points across: Building and Deploying Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 apps using Microsoft Azure, Data Protection in Microsoft Azure, Azure Mobile Services with iOS and Android: Azure case studies, Microsoft Virtual Academy, Azure Media Services Deep Dive as well as Windows Azure and Virtual Machines.

 

For the first time in Lebanon developers witnessed the unlimited potential with Microsoft Azure. Microsoft is now the only cloud provider that offers customers a comprehensive hybrid cloud solution that integrates existing IT infrastructure with all the benefits of the public cloud. Enterprises can now easily and quickly move their critical existing apps to the cloud to save time and money.

 

One of the early adopters, Foo, leading mobile applications developers in Lebanon, are currently using Windows Azure for server hosting (virtual machines), cloud files for scalable data storage, HDInsight for big data and CDN for media streaming.
