Apple has released a bright pink new iPhone 6s — likely the only way that you’ll be able to tell that someone has the new handset.
The company released the new phone with much fanfare last night, but almost all of the changes — a new camera and pressure-sensitive display — were on the inside. The only new noticeable addition to the phone’s look is the very pink rose gold colour, and a tiny “S” on the back.
The new rose gold phone is the second new colour to be introduced to the iPhone line in a year. With the introduction of the iPhone 6, Apple released its gold colour, too — which was the first new colour iPhone to be offered in years.
That gold iPhone 6 has now been retired, and both the classic gold and rose gold are now only available with the iPhone 6s. That means that the 6 is only offered in its traditional colourings, silver (with a white front) and space grey (with a black front).
Since then, the gold colour has spread across all of Apple’s offerings, and it now offers gold Apple Watches, iPads and MacBooks.
Apple also brought the gold and rose gold colours to its cheapest Apple Watch Sport, selling them at the same price. Apple previously only offered the two colours in its premium Edition line, which cost up to £13,500.
In the UK, all of the different colours of the iPhone 6s will start at £539, and the 6s Plus will be available for £619.
The new phones will be available for pre-order on Saturday, ahead of their release on September 25.
Apple had previously offered its colourful iPhone 5c in a bright pink, in keeping with the colourful look of that short-lived handset.[independent]
