Army Command organizes the race 
"Barracks to Barracks"

 

- Introduction

the race "barracks to barracks" is a military hiking exercise open to civilian participants. The race starts from the "Soukhour" rest house in Laklouk, passing by "Tamr Taybe", el-Koubour, "Sahlet el Rahwe" facing Saint Semaan to reach the cedars of Becharre. The race is distinguished in the altitude variation which varies between 1800 meters and 2900 meters.

A new bicycle race category was added to this drill in order to diversify the race and to introduce a new challenge to the competing teams.

Under the patronage of the Armed Forces Commander, Army Command organizes this race after conducting previous experiences organized with many civilian teams and constitutes a unique opportunity which allows the female and male civilian teams to participate along with military teams 

- Categories

The "B2B" race consists of:
- A Long race: 40 kilometers (altitude variation 800 - 1000 meters)
- A medium race: 23 kilometers
- A short race: 12 kilometers
- A bicycle race from the Laqlouq Barrack to Al-Rabb Church. 


- General Information

- The contenders are classified as follows:

* 40 Km race
- Military category
- Male civilians category
- Female civilians category 

* 23 Km race 
- Female and male category 

* 12 Km race
- Civilians category (9-14 years) 

* Bicycle race
- Female category
- Male category 

- The starting point is at the barracks of el-Soukhour resthouse in the village of Laklouk - Tannourine
- The arrival point is The Cedars Forest and the Al-Rabb Church for the participants in the bicycle race.
- Estimated time of the race: 6 - 8 hours (long race)
- Each team consists of 3 contenders
- Individual classification is adopted in the bicycle race category.
- Date of the race: 10/8/2014 at 5:00 in the morning
- Date of the opening ceremony and briefing: 9/8/2014 at 18:00 in Laklouk el-Soukhour rest house
- A village style dinner will follow the opening at the departure point on 09/08/2014
- Male and female civilians may participate in the 12 km race without counting their classification.
- Children between 9 and 14 years of age may only participate in the 12 km race. 


- General rules:

Each contender should comply with the race regulations.
- All the team members must cross the arrival line; timing will be recorded according to the arrival of the last team member.
- The team with all its members shall cross the finish line and the timing of the last participant shall be taken into account except for the bicycle race category where individual classification is adopted.
- Each team must be equipped with the necessary supplies such as food and water; water will be available in the intermediary point at "Sahlet el-Rahwe".
- All the team members should cross all the checkpoints, seal the participation card and comply with the determined track. Any violation to these regulations will result in considering the team as disqualified 


- Participation Rules:

Each contender should fill in the required participation application form and submit it to the Rangers Regiment in the following barracks: 

- Rangers Regiment - Roumieh
- First Mountain Combat Detachment - Akoura 
- Second Mountain Combat Detachment - the Cedars 

All the contenders should also provide the following requirements:

- photograph
- The e-mail address of each participant is required in order to receive the participation certifications.
- blood type
- team number
- category (military/civilian)
- Information may be sent to the following e-mail address: rangers@army.gov.lb , or registration may be done through the Smartphone application "Rangers Events" for Android. 

- The required equipments:

Each contestant must be equipped with:
- hiking shoes (one extra pair)
- Back Pack
- Water Canteen. (water will be refilled in places designed for water supplies) 


- Important note:

- Each contender must have an insurance policy which covers all the treatment expenses in case of any accident that might occur during the race. The contender should give up his right to any legal pursuit if any accident should occur due to race. 

- The application form may be acquired from the Rangers' barracks in Roumieh or Akoura barracks or the Cedars barracks. It can also be acquired through the Lebanese Army website, under the title "from barracks to barracks", where all the required information is provided. 

- Each team must possess a cell phone which enables its members to call the operations room when necessary.

- The race is free of charge 


Participations are accepted until 08/08/2014 at 23.00. All participations beyond this date will be rejected.
