The Zouk international festival kicked off last night with the Lebanese Ziad Rahbani.

The success of his concert during the summer of 2013 has lead to a renewed collaboration bringing for a second time the great Lebanese artist with his full band on July 23rd 2015 to the Zouk Mikael Festival.

Two years ago, Zouk Mikael’s amphitheater was sold out with an audience of different ages and groups. They came to see Ziad Rahbani who presented a diverse show, combining songs and instrumentals, and going from oriental music to jazz, funk, pop, bossa-nova and more.

Last night wasn’t any different; Ziad Rahbani, the composer, arranger, and pianist performed his works accompanied by a full orchestra of around 50 people in front of a full amphitheater of different ages. The crowd clapped, sang along, and enjoyed Rahbani’s unique talent.

Ziad Rahbani started his artistic career more than four decades ago and has created lots of instrumental and lyrical work in cooperation with leading artists like his mother Fairuz, the late Joseph Sakr and others. In addition to music, he produced plays (between 1973 and 1994), and had political/social satirical radio programs along with writing press articles. The common denominator in his work of words and music, is revealed through his unique artistic secret, that lies in his depth, spontaneity, talent, hard work and professional integrity.
