It was just three words at the very end of Lady Gaga's ELLE Women in Hollywoodacceptance speech last night, but they confirmed that had long been rumored: Lady Gaga is engaged to talent agent Christian Carino.
In her closing remarks, Gaga thanked a host of people, including her "fiancé Christian."
"Thank you, Nina Garcia," she started. "Thank you Stephen Gan. I was an outcast and you believed in me, and I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you, ELLE. Thank you all the loved ones in my life. Bobby, I love you. Everybody at table 5. My fiancé Christian. All the loved ones in my life who take care of me every day. And Ryan Murphy. Thanks for giving me my first leading role. You know that Golden Globe belongs to you. Thank you to all of you, everybody in this room, who has supported me in having a voice."
In her poignant speech at ELLE's Women in Hollywood event, Gaga touched on her sexual assault, mental illness, and made a plea for women to lift up each other’s voices and “beckon the world towards kindness.”
Gaga and Carino, for context, were confirmed to be dating in February 2017 by People. They were first rumored to be engaged in November of last year by Us Weekly. This is Gaga's first time acknowledging the two are indeed getting married.
