Up until the 3rd century, Christians around the world used to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on January 6th. according to Roman Catholic sources, the date was changed from January 6th to December 25th to override the feast that was dedicated at the time for the celebration of the birth of the Sun.
The Armenian church was not a satellite of the Roman church. Remaining faithful to the traditions of their forefathers, Armenians have continued up until this day to celebrate Christmas on January 6th.
