    Sunfish found in Tripoli

    07 february 2017
The ocean is always unraveling mysterious creatures. This time, our own Lebanese fisherman in Tripoli caught one of the heaviest bony fish in the world, the Mola Mola or ocean sunfish. It can grow more than 10 feet long and pack on 5,000 pounds and it's one of the largest jellyfish eaters out there, yet it's still a big secret to the researchers.
These fish live off the California coast and around the world in temperate and tropical areas. But many people have never heard of them, let alone seen one.
However, after reading a bit about it, every diver or biologist that have encountered this majestic fish, had nothing but fascinating things to say about it.

“Sunfish are one of the most advanced bony fish, but they have a lot in common with cartilaginous fish. What they have in common may be adaptive to pelagic life and to study it may lead to solve evolution of pelagic species,” says Itsumi Nakamura, a biologist at the University of Tokyo.
It's not a threat to humans and is in fact, according to divers, a pure enjoyment and thrilling.
