We all know that Lebanese Security Forces are doing such an amazing job lately with keeping Lebanese citizens safe from terrorist attacks. Seriously, though we cannot thank and give them enough gratitude for all the hard work they are doing.
Kareem Marwan Salhab posted on facebook the funny yet serious situation that happened last night.
"So I was on the way back home from MMA Training and on my way passed by Barbar. I decided to get myself some shawarma sandwiches. Since it was raining and i still had a walk home i decided to tuck the bag into my hoodie to protect the sandwiches from getting wet. Now, my house happens to be near a certain minister's house and naturally there are soldiers stationed in the area.
As i was walking (also holding a bag with my stuff) i suddenly a heard loud shout from next to me telling me to stop in my tracks. From my side I see a soldier carefully reaching for his weapon as he asked "shumkhabba ta7et jacketakwle!??" and it suddenly dawned on me that the sandwiches tucked in my hoodie could easily be mistaken for a bomb belt in the dark.
I looked at him and told him "sandwichetshawarma". Thinking i was joking, he didn't change face while slowly backing up as some of his comrades also started showing up from the shouting. He said "fta7 jacketak 3al batee2" while ready to draw his weapon at any sudden movements. The tension could be cut by a knife. So i also backed up and started slowly unzipping my hoodie to reveal the Barbar bag underneath.
All tension faded from their faces as they laughed and said "shubekmkhabbalsandwichet ra3abet l dene yazalame" and i told them that it was raining and that i didn't want them to get wet. They replied "rou7 khayyeallah ma3ak"
Moral of the Story, ladies & gentlemen:
Don't hide shawarma inside your hoodie.

Kareem we are glad that you are okay and hope you enjoyed those shawarmas! Did you get extra toum? After a scare like that, you probably needed all the toum you could get. In a job like the Security Forces, one tends to get a little bit paranoid and they are fully right to do so! Mistaking a bag full of Shawarma tucked warmly in a hoodie for a bomb belt in the dark is to be expected. Thank you for sharing this story and stay safe Lebanon!
