    Second Powership arrives to Lebanon

    13 august 2013
In accordance with the agreement signed between the Ministry of Energy and Water and Karpowership, Beirut will be receiving 270MW of electricity via Powerships for the next three years.
Following its sister Fatmagul Sultan of 188MW, which arrived in March, Orhan Bey has arrived to Beirut to complete the 270MW agreement. Orhan Bey will be berthed and operating near Jieh whereas the sister Fatmagul has been operating from Zouk for the last five months. With the final works being completed in Jieh, Orhan Bey is slated to start electricity generation within weeks.
This 270 MWs is the cheapest and most reliable electricity with the highest availability.
In the contract signed by the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water His Excellency Gebran Bassil, the company Karpowership guarantees the availability of its Powerships and its efficiency, with the responsibility of the fuel supply falling to Electricite du Liban.
Taking into account the current global fuel prices and the efficiency guaranteed by the company, the electricity provided by the Powerships is the cheapest in Lebanon. Powerships are more economical than both private generators, which cost multiples of the electricity generated by the Powerships, and the existing old land-based power plants.
