After annual collaborations stretching back to 2008 on various health and nutrition-related communication campaigns in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, Nestlé Middle East has now retained Beirut-based Akouri Communications as its Public Relations agency for Lebanon.
"Our history with Akouri Communications spans a number of successful outreaches over the years, including the launch of the Nestlé Healthy Kids - Ajyal Salima school nutrition education program in Lebanon in 2010, and covering its main milestones and achievements," said Lynn Al-Khatib, Internal Comm. & Media Relations Manager, Nestlé Middle East. "We are very happy to be expanding the scope of our relationship to all aspects of communications at Nestlé, including our company news and the exciting sponsorships and activities of the many branches of the Nestlé family."
"The people at Nestlé have been a pleasure to work with, and we greatly look forward to more regular contact with them as we implement all their PR needs in Lebanon," said Jean Akouri, Akouri Communications Director. "We are also very excited that this partnership is boosting our ventures into general communications that go beyond the health field we've been recognized for since our founding."
Nestlé Middle East's heritage goes back 80 years to 1934 when the first import operation was set up in Lebanon. Today, Nestlé Middle East owns and operates 16 factories in the region and provides direct employment to approximately 7,000 people and indirect employment to several thousands more.
Akouri Communications (www.akouricom.com) was founded in 2004, after Jean Akouri's stint as International Communications Manager for Hoffmann-La Roche at the global pharmaceutical company's Swiss headquarters.
Some of its key landmark campaigns include Lighting the Lebanese parliament building in pink for breast cancer month; Creating the Hypatia Network to Prevent Cervical Cancer Through Knowledge, the Less is More Cholesterol prevention initiative, and the Bleeding Voices fundraising concert as part of Hemophilia awareness activities; and entrenching understanding of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
